[Cubicle Drawing 20] - Mafia Charmeleon

[20 of 36] of my series of drawings/ doodles I did during my 4.5 month work contract as a game tester. All done during idle time and break periods.

This was the ONLY drawing I got requested by one of my co-workers/ team members. He said he wanted to see the Pokemon, Charmeleon as a member of the mafia because in his opinion, the Pokemon already looked bad-ass. The concept and execution seemed simple enough and really it was since it was one of the quicker drawings I did. I settled on the Chicago mafia attire since I'm a fan of the detective stories of the Prohibition/ Eliot Ness era. Fedora and trench coat is a must. The tommy gun took me a while to draw since I was not an expert on firearm designs. I drew in a fire mitt for Charmeleon's left hand to add to the already intimidating look though I was trying to mimic the Pokemon TCG Fire Energy logo but fell short of space so I drew a more simplified flame. I was originally going to give Charmeleon a cigarette, but then I got to thinking that a matchstick would be more appropriate which is a concept I borrowed from Parsec in Radiata Stories.

The same co-worker earlier asked me to draw a robot ninja, but I couldn't quite get it right on paper in addition to it being an original piece of work that would come in conflict of employment policies of the game company. I was envisioning a cybernetic ninja variant of the main character in Shinobi [PS2].
